Meet the Team!

Our ministry team

Rev. Annie Baker- Streevy will be joining the circuit in September:

Roger will be leaving us at the end of August:-

Dear friends

As I prepare for our move to Silsden this summer, I’m reflecting on my 8 years here as your minister.  I’m also looking forward to what comes next.

I’m thinking back to the first 4 years in partnership with Deacon Jenny and since then the shared ministry with Sam, Jean & Hester.  As a church, we’ve hosted asylum seekers, made it through the Covid pandemic, remembered loved ones, started new children’s work and so much more.

Now Annie Baker-Streevy is coming from New England to be your minister.  Annie will be working in a ministry team with Cameron Stirk & Wendy Walker serving the new group of churches around the Chevin.  The new constitutional arrangements will bring challenges and opportunities.  People from Guiseley need to play an active part – see the attached notice about the reps needed to serve on the new Church Council.

As I move on and take up new challenges, I thank you for all that we’ve shared together and wish you well in whatever the future might bring.

In the words of Sydney Carter:

It’s from the old I travel to the new;

keep me travelling along with you.

Roger.

Across Guiseley, Yeadon & Bramhope Methodist churches we have our ministry team of Rev. Roger Smith and Jean Fletcher pictured here.

Another link you’re probably not aware of is that Jean’s sister was one of Roger’s church stewards in Bradford 20 years ago!

Jean will support existing church activities but her main focus is helping us to link with people outside the church.  If we are to have a future as a church, we must build new relationships and respond to people’s needs in new ways.  Jean can’t do this on her own – we all have to play our part  – and working as a ministry team will bring exciting opportunities.

Children’s’ Worker

We’re delighted to announce that the Circuit has appointed Hester Ayling as Children’s Worker.

She’ll be supporting children’s activities in Bramhope, Guiseley and Yeadon as part of a ministry team with minister Roger Smith and activities organiser Jean Snaith.

Hester grew up in Addingham and now lives with her family in Yeadon. She has worked as a primary teacher and has lots of experience working with young children in church.

She is a member at the Mosaic church in Leeds.
