As Christians we must ensure that everyone who meets on our premises is valued and cared for.  We have special responsibilities towards those who are more vulnerable, particularly children and young people, and vulnerable adults.  The whole church, under the leadership of the Minister, Stewards and Church Council, is responsible for their safety and welfare and for implementing our Safeguarding Policy.   A copy of our Policy, which sets out the ways in which we seek to carry out the policy of  the Methodist Church, is available on Church Notice Boards or on request.  The Connexional Safeguarding document is entitled “Safeguarding Policy, Procedures and Guidance, April 2019” and a copy can be found on

All our volunteers comply with current legislation and with the procedures laid down by the Methodist Church.  The registration process includes applying for an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS, and all volunteers are also required to attend the Foundation module of Creating Safer Space training.

Guidance and advice on all these matters can be obtained from the Safeguarding Coordinator through the webmaster.
